Character Blog Hop

A warm thanks to my pal Jasmine Haynes for tagging me in the Character Blog Hop! The character blog hop consists of answering a few questions to let our readers know about the new characters we’ve got coming in the near future.

Now let’s get started by telling you about the fabulous Jasmine.

NY Times and USA Today bestselling Jasmine Haynes/Jennifer Skully is the author of classy erotic romance, hilarious romantic mysteries, and the Max Starr sensual suspense series. Visit her at www.jasminehaynes.com.

Here’s my story, Leave Me Breathless.

1) What is the name of your character?

My parents named me Cordelia Jane Pulaski, but my byline is C.J. Pulaski, and that’s what everyone knows me as at the San Francisco Sun newspaper, where I worked until just recently.

2) When and where is the story set?

I lived in San Francisco until I lost my job, then I moved back to my hometown of Conspiracy. Conspiracy is a picturesque northern California coastal town. Everywhere you turn here their are breathtaking views from the rugged coastline, to the pristine beaches, to the towering redwoods. So why did I leave here you wonder? I have a father and two brothers who would rule my life if I lived here. My dad, Charlie, runs Pulaski’s Bar and Grill with my brother Jed. The restaurant sits right on the Pacific Ocean and the food that is out of this world. My other brother, Michael, is a minister who is way too interested in guiding my private life.

3) What should we know about her?

I’m a photojournalist and I just lost my job at a the Sun for making a rookie mistake. So I tucked tail and came home to Conspiracy to lick her wounds and work for the local newspaper as an agriculture reporter until I can regain my credibility and get back in the game. This job is a definite step down for me, but I love my new editor. While I’m out covering the local fish cannery, I meet up with the chief of police, Nate Cole. He’s trying to apprehend a criminal, slips on a fish and sends us both into a bin of freshly caught dover sole.  When I look and into his baby blues, and I have this sense that life is going to get interesting, and leaving Conspiracy might not be as easy as now that Nate’s in the picture.

4) What is the main conflict? What messes up her life?
I thought I’d nailed Congressman Moline. I know he’s dirty and I thought I had him nailed. The story went to print, and then I learned I’d been fed false information from a trusted friend. It’s my fault. I should have checked it better, but I screwed up and lost not only my job, but two other journalists were fired because of me. I’ve got to redeem myself and I won’t stop until I nail Congressman Moline. In the meantime, Dad has coerced me into joining The Trench Coat Brigade, his band of  amateur sleuths, that include my uncle, my best friend’s mom, my goddaughter, and Chief Cole. Everywhere I turn that man pops up, chipping away at my determination to leave Conspiracy.

5) What is the personal goal of the character?

I have to get back in the Big Leagues. I’ve worked too hard and too long to walk away from my career. Who would have thought the Trench Coat Brigade would be my way back in. When a missing person case turns into a 40-year-old murder that I help them solve, bing, bang, boom my career is relaunched. But is it what I really want? In my heart of hearts, I’ve always wanted a relationship like my parents had. A love so strong you don’t need words to express what you’re feeling. And now I’m torn between the career I love, and the man who can give me that kind of love. As the song says, “Should I stay or should I go?” You’ll have to read it to find out.

6) Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?

Leave Me Breathless is in progress. To learn about other books by Kate Curran check out her webpage www.katecurran.net

7) When can we expect the book to be published?

Leave Me Breathless will hopefully be out late this fall. To keep up with my latest releases sign up for my newsletter at www.katecurran.net or like me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/katecurranauthor

Next up on the character blog hop is my friend Deb Julianne who writes hilarious slap-stick comedy. Deb will be posting on September 1st, so don’t miss out on her blog!

While some say truth is stranger than fiction, Deb Julienne’s experience runs more along the lines of slap-stick comedy. She believes when life tosses you lemons it’s best to turn it into Limoncello.

Baking, gardening, and writing help fill the leftover space of the day job.

As a teen of the 70’s, some of her most precious memories are enough to make her laugh out loud. She considers herself lucky to have had many friends and partners in crime, stretching the boundaries along the way. Life has been known to take U-turn at a moment’s notice dropping her into a compost heap.

Born and raised in San Jose, California, she now resides in the Tahoe National Forest Basin, her own bit of heaven on earth, with her husband of 33 years, with three sons and one daughter, and two very precious grandkids.

Week 34

Week 34, Rubber Boot Journalist has been busily working on Leave Me Breathless and got some new scenes written today and really wishing she was in Conspiracy instead of inland where it was 109 today!

Week 34 the Rubber Boot Journalist has been absent for several weeks with good reason.  She's been working on Breathless and and getting closer to getting it off to the editor.  She's also been out taking photos of eastern Oregon.  Here are a few of a sunset.  Stay tuned for more.  Amazing country.

Week 34, Rubber Boot Journalist is making good progress on Breathless this week.  As promised here are more Oregon photos from the Wallowa Mountains and today's are a waterfall I stumbled across.
