Week 18






Week 18, day 1&2, Rubber Boot Journalist is back from skiing and settling in to write about cattle. Did you know most California cattle ranches are less than 50 head? Also working on the next book.














Week 18, day 3, Rubber Boot Journalist is working on rice today. Long, long tape to transcribe and keep looking out the window wishing I could escape! Making progress on the next book too! Busy day.








Week 18, Day 4, Rubber Boot Journalist is back to working on rice and almonds.  Did you know there are more than 900,000 acres of almonds in California or that they bloom in February?  Also doing some work on the next book today.
 








Week 18, day 5, Rubber Boot Journalist is still working on rice and almonds.  Did you know if we get a cold snap during the almond bloom growers use irrigation to protect the blossoms?

Week 17

Week 17, day 1, Rubber

Week 17, day 1, Rubber Boot Journalist, is still working on haylage which is rice straw made into a kind of silage. And good news we got close to three inches of rain this past weekend the first real storm since December of 2012 and more due in this week. Come on monsoon!




Week 17, day 2, Rubber Boot Journalist has been typing her little fingers to the bone getting the walnut article done and it is.  Tomorrow photos so out of the office for a couple of hours.  Also been working on rice straw.  Did you know less than five percent of the rice stubble is harvested for straw for animal feed?








Week 3, day 3, Rubber Boot Journalist, finished the rice straw article and is moving on drought in the Klamath Basin. Did you know Tulelake, California, has some of the finest soil anywhere?









Week 17, day 4, Rubber Boot Journalist is working on the drought in California and working on the next book Leave Me Breathless.






Week 17, day 5, Rubber Boot Journalist is working on an article soil management for rangeland. Any plans for Valentine's day?

Week 16

Week 16, day 1, Rubber Boot Journalist is back at it and working on rice today. Did you know rice was seeded by airplane?






 Week 16, day 2, Rubber Boot Journalist stuck in the office transcribing tapes and doing interviews on rice, logging, and walnuts and the drought. Did you know some growers may have to choose between saving their trees and producing a crop?







Week 16, day 3, Rubber Boot Journalist starts in on an article on haylage, silage made from rice straw to feed cattle. Rice straw is the stubble left in the field after the rice is harvested.



Week 16, day 4, Rubber Boot Journalist is back to working on haylage and rice and she dug into the rewrites for the next book Leave Me Breathless!








Week 16, day 5 Rubber Boot Journalist is out covering a grower meeting on walnuts. Get to learn about insect control and drought management. Also making progress on the next book Leave Me Breathless set on the California coastal town of Conspiracy.

Week 15

Week 15, day 1, the Rubber Boot Journalist, hit the ground running (slippers not boots) and got all the tapes transcribed for the prune article.  Now just got to edit and sort photos.  Long day in the office.



Week 15, day 2, Rubber Boot Journalist finished the prune article and shipped it off.  February will be walnuts and almonds and some cattle and logging.  Here's some pics from a photo shoot in the Klamath Basin last week.  They are in desperate need of water!







Week 15, day 3, Rubber Boot Journalist is uploading Falling and hopes to have it live on January 31st!




Week 15, day 4, Rubber Boot Journalist spent the day getting her first newsletter ready to go tomorrow and updating her webpage.  Amazing how long all of that takes.  And tomorrow Falling goes live!





Week 15, day 3, Rubber Boot Journalist released Falling For You..Again! Working on getting the word out today and back to new articles on Monday.
